In the last years, applications in the field of satellite navigation, route planning or tracking have established. The Satellite Initiative Berchtesgadener Land together with the Bavarian Cluster Satellite Navigation identified safety applications to be highly innovative out of a large amount of possible applications of satellite navigation technology.

The project task is to develop a modular core system, which will serve as a standard building block for services in the areas of security, transport and logistics. Different technologies improve the location accuracy and reliability of satellite applications. The Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology supports this project.

Health and Hiking Region Salzalpen

Berchtesgaden and Tennengau are traditionally important health and tourism regions featuring a unique landscape and climatic conditions in the hilly and high mountain regions. The regions have detailed competences and cooperation within health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation as well as competitive sports. Aside the field of "recreation", tourism and health boards increasingly want to attract potential clients with "health" products and services. This is the reason for the ambition of performing a survey of potential and resources of an alpine health and hiking region like Berchtesgaden and Tennengau. The European satellite navigation system Galileo that is currently being developed, is another resource for solutions in health tourism and provides a broad range of use. With that, health orientated hiking would be targeted (trails, monitoring of health value, use in rehabilitation and prevention etc.).

Immer Mobil

Individual, location-based transport services for elderly people in rural areas.

Our constantly ageing society requires an expanded mobility service in future that enables an independent life and spontaneous mobility also outside one's own household, especially for the generation of 50 plus.
The project " Always Being Mobile - iMo" should enable a simple and comfortable use of current mobility services in rural areas. The basic idea is the improvement of matching and interlinking between supply and demand of transport services by special telematics and ICT technologies. Besides traditional public transport, it is hereby possible to also include special, irregular services of social or private transport service providers as well as social service transports, privately organised buses or collective taxis.

In 2011 a test run is planned in the pilot region of the districts Rosenheim and Traunstein. With that, the total (or 'overall') system that has been developed, will be tested and optimised in collaboration with the users.
